In his speeches, Obama always included gays when he was mentioning the various kinds of Americans.

EG, "rich and poor, white and black, gay and straight...."

Why not? I dated several black women and some of my best friends are gay. I don't care what you think fly, it was a joke. Pull the stick out and relax.

Obama does not support Gay Marriage, one thing I can agree with him on! Smile

Although Barack Obama has said that he supports civil unions, he is against gay marriage. In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

You too should know that I wasn't serious. It was in jest. Even the gay people I know, don't take offense to me talking like that.

I actually do not have a problem with gay marriage nor with gays in the military. Live and let live.

once again, and this only requires a simple answer. if the same electorate voted in your choice Obama, did not the same electorate vote down marriage between "lets say alternate life styles"

or did the only vote for Obama count???

One would think that a vote for Obama would be inclusive of a vote for all of his policies as well. I thought Obama spoke of this before the election.

It took a Presidential Order and the Courts getting involved for black kids to be able to go to the same schools as white kids.
If left to the voters in those states, how long do you think it would have taken for a desegregation bill to pass? They would still be segregated to this day in all probability.

If it takes a Presidential directive and the courts getting involved for gays to finally have the same rights as heterosexuals, so be it.

Let's just wait and see what he does after the election, not just for California, but for the whole country.

Proposition 8 was a California State ballot proposition that amended the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman. It overrode a recent California Supreme Court decision that had recognized same-sex marriage in California as a fundamental right. The official ballot title language for Proposition 8 is "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry." The entirety of the text to be added to the constitution was: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

The campaigns for and against Proposition 8 raised $35.8 million and $37.6 million, respectively, becoming the highest-funded campaign on any state ballot that day and surpassing every campaign in the country in spending except the presidential contest. The proponents argued for exclusively heterosexual marriage while claiming that failure to change the constitution would require changes to school curriculum and threaten church tax benefits. The opponents argued that eliminating the rights of any Californian and mandating that one group of people be treated differently from everyone else was unfair and wrong.

What does ones race and sexual choice have in common? Nothing!

It has been a "tradition" for a MAN to marry a WOMAN since the beginning of documented time, gays until recently were hidden in the closet, so now that they are out legally, they need to start finding their OWN way in life, straight people had to pave our own path through life...Why do gays need special treatment??? Because they want their CHOICE to be seen as NORMAL, which it clearly is not and never will be, nor will Gay's and straight folks be equally the same since they clearly are not, one is HOMOSEXUAL and the other is STRAIGHT!

President directive in favor of going against the vote in California is not going to happen, both Obama and Biden are AGAINST Gay Marriage and it ain't no secret!
