A scary look at things to come, if we are not vigilant
Barack Obama supporter Rene Marie has laid down a whopping political statement in Denver. Just one month before the Democratic National Convention in Denver, she sang the ‘Black National Anthem’ at the biggest City Council meeting of the year. She was suppose to sing the Star Spangled Banner which celebrates the nation’s birthday. As the Star Spangled Banner melody played, Ms. Marie subs***uted the words to “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to the astonishment of Mayor John Hickenlooper and city council members. The song is commonly known as the Black National Anthem. http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=1669 |

I consider this butchering of the Star Spangled Banner to be UN-AMERICAN

Vigilant against what? Black people? Maybe this is a bit of a stretch for you, but racism and divisiveness isn't exclusive to people with dark skin. The fact that this woman has no relevant ***ociation to Obama that warrants this thread being posted here, makes your thinly-veiled racism quite blatant. Obama's black, and black people are scary. We get it. You could at least be upfront about it. |

The racists are really coming out of the wood-work.
Regardless, this woman should be tried for treason. Sing it all you want on your own time...but not during official business and while the flag is flying during a government event. Give her the needle. |

I was referring to the original poster....and now you. The race card was thrown as soon as this thread was started. Going back to the point...what does this have to do with Obama? Let's hear an explanation? I'm betting no one on these boards has the BALLS to try and explain! |

Let me know when you feel like making a valid point. Not wanting to vote for Obama because you don't agree with his policies doesn't make you a racist. Not wanting to vote for Obama because a black woman sang a "commonly known" black national anthem in Colorado and saying it's "a scary look at things to come" DOES make you a racist. |

You poor big government conservatives. You live in constant fear don't ya? Afraid that we might not go on borrowing trillions of dollars from China and blowing it on the rathole in Iraq? Afraid that we'll elect someone who'll choose competent can-do folks over loyal cronies? Afraid America might start winning the war in Afghanistan and against Al Qaeda? And best of all... you're afraid of them militant black folks forcing their national anthem down your throat? How do you sleep at night? Black people might be sneaking up on you -- or worse yet, singing their national anthem to subliminally lull you into thinking YOU'RE BLACK TOO! |

Other than the first line of your post from the web site rightpundits; I'm curious as to how YOU or THEY know the singer is an Obama supporter. Looking over the FOXnews.comsite and the myfoxcolorado.com site Obama wasn't mentioned in either. It's obvious as to what you and rightpundits are really saying. Just another anti-American for Obama running off at the mouth, be afraid, be very afraid. More guilt by ***ociation, even if there isn't any ***ociation other than what is presumed by a blog site. I should therefore presume that John McCain wants another terrorist attack on the United States because one of his top advisers (Charlie Black, a know McCain supporter) said it will help his chances for election. First time I'd ever even heard of the song. I do agree with Senator Obama though, "Saying that Rene Marie should have sung what she promised, Obama made clear that he only recognizes one national anthem for Americans:". Another of the thousand of blogs weigh in on the latest Obama controversy. Another |

Hickenlooper disowned it and he is an Obama supporter. not related to the campaign in any way shape or form. More mud.

Didn't you read the link? Do you want to borrow MY gl***es? It says she is a supporter of Blowbamas and she did it to unify the people for his victory. The song can also be found in the Black Theology and in Blowbamas former church. Read and see. |

The event in question that she was suppose to sing the Star Spangled Banner at was not a place for her to express her "creative expression". She was asked to sing a certain Anthem and she did not. That in my book is disrespectful.
I could care less who she supports, what she did was wrong. |

No I have my own gl***es but I will say that I am not inclined to read, nor believe anything that comes from a site maned rightpundits.com. sorry, the worst I will do is that "fair and balanced' site. Anywho, she does not speak for Obama, nor his campaign. Hickenlooper has already claimed responsibility and that ends it as far as I am concerned. Now I will say again, what does this have to do with Obama? |

I like how all the comments on that site think 'our native land' means Africa. If you look at the history of the song, it was written in 1900 to express hope in the future of black people in America. And no I don't agree with her singing it there. |

#1- we're borrowing most of the money from Kuwait. #2- Why would anybody be afraid of the US winning the way in Afghanistan and against AQ? That's silly. #3 - I think the point that is being made here is that IF Jobama gets in he'll change everything. He's already displayed his new Presidential Seal. We haven't seen the last of it either. He wants to change the National Anthem to "I'd like to teach the world to sing". Everytime I hear that tune I think of a bunch of hippies sitting around a clover field drinkling weed and smoking Coke. Er...I mean drinking Coke and smoking weed. He thinks our anthem is too violent. Had he served in the military, he'd understand why. Had he paid attention to the events of 9/11 he would understand why as well. He may even want to change the anthem to the tune that his hoochie mama supporter sang without permission. There is a reason that the national anthem is sang at events such as ballgames, schools, and government events. It is to remind us of why we're free and the price paid to make us that way. She was asked to sing the National Anthem of the United States of America! Not her version taken from her church. I hate it when peoplebutcher the anthem trying to outdo Whitney Houstons version from 1991. It sounds like crap when it isn't sung with the reverence it deserves to be sung with. IMHO! |

With 300,000,000 plus people in this country, nothing surprises me. To claim that Obama had something to do with this is a lie pure and simple.
