This isn't anything I can prove or provide a link for. It's just a rumor I've picked up from within the Obama camp...OK?

It's rumored that Obama will invite the Dixie Chicks to play at the White House. Not in conjunction with the inauguration, but at some time later.

How would you feel about that? Why?

Not good.

I still feel hatred towards the one who said:

"Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

HE ISN'T A TEXAN! Mad

He was born in freaking Connecticut.

After their screw up over seas, it seems appropriate for a comeback considering their (or at least) one of their members feelings on the matter of politics. lol

Bad move!

People give too much credence to celebreties as it is. This will only encourage them.

Politically it would be thumbing his nose at Bush and the Republicans. Not exactly the act of someone who claims to wants to put the partisan bickering in the past.

The Dixie Chicks will still be winning awards and selling millions and millions of CD’s and the neocons are going to be setting in Karl Rove’s basment complaining about how the military industrial complex is not making anymore money off of the Iraq war because Our Troops have come home and the rich now have to pay there taxes to pay off the money we owe China from the Iraq war.

Maybe now that Senator Obama has won the election he can finally embrace his other half.

Everyone enjoys a good "two step" every once in awhile.

Smells like bulls#!t...

It would be a very politicized, in-your-face invitation with little wiggle-room as anything BUT a shot at Bush. That just doesn't seem to be Obama's style. Maybe some tool that works for Obama would like to do this, but Obama, himself, has displayed a lot more class than this up till now.

Who’s playing at the Republican’s Inaugural Bawl? Maybe Obama can send them over there? Remind them why they lost.

But, I actually agree with thorin001 “People give too much credence to celebrities as it is. This will only encourage them.”

It is within his right to invite them as it is within their right to say what they said in a foreign country about our president Bush.

If he does invite them I will take it as a personal thing, a slur at Bush, a childish choice and it will pretty much bury any bipartisian possiblities in my mind.

The man, whom I have been doing my best to get behind, thus far seems to be doing his best to **** me off.

His comments about Iran "needing to ease their support of terrorism". (Ease? They need to cease, not ease)
His blantant outright leak of what appears to be outright lies about his recent meeting with Bush who despite everyone's willingness to hate has been gracious and supportive of Mr Obama, something that appears he is not worthy of.

Go ahead and invite the Dixie chicks, that will pretty much nail it for me.

And the People have the right to exercise their feelings about free speach by not purchasing the Dixie Chick's music or attending their concerts. That, too, is a freedom of expression and a right of the people, that we hold dear.

I don't look to musicians for political philosophy, they play music. In the case of the Dixie Chicks, I appreciate their abilities as instrumentalists.
Likewise I do not expect a Disc Jockey at my local s**t-kicker station to have much insight into anything. If he says I must burn my recordings and boycott someone, I'll most likely ignore him.
If you want to confuse music and politics, go ahead. It's your privilege. Just don't waste my time trying to convince me that I'm not a valid American because of my taste in entertainment.

I hope the Chicks do play at the White House. I always found the "Blacklist" thing, whether spoken or unspoken to be a vile disgusting throwback to the McCarthy era.

I honestly doubt you had any serious intention of giving Obama an honest shot before you started whining and raising crap like a spoiled child. You forget we've seen the vile crap you helped spread against him.

In case you didn't notice, it was attitudes like yours that turned the majority of voters AGAINST the GOP this election and handed the Republican Party (and conservatives in general) it's most humiliating and complete defeat in over 50 years. In case you didn't notice, McCain lost by more electoral votes than he got - 365 to 164, meaning he lost by over 200 votes.

Keep it up, it just means the Dems will be in power that much longer. At this rate, the GOP will be lucky to regain any semblance of power within the next 30 years (if they survive that long).
