Looking for anyone who might have known Henry "Hank" Gettman during this period. He was the 5'0" tall Battalion Motor Sergeant for the 72nd Tank Bn during the first 10 months the 2nd Infantry Division was in combat in Korea, and was good friends with MOH awardee MSGT Kouma from A/72nd Tank.

My grandfather, Sergeant Joseph O'Donnell of Boston, MA served in the 72nd Tank Battalion as a Tanker during the Korean War.

Couldn't find your grandfather on the HQ/72nd rosters, so he was in one of the line companies. Do you know which one? You can purchase the rosters, by company, from the 2nd Infantry Division Korean War Veterans Alliance for about $15 apiece. The rosters cover from 1950-53, so you will be able to determine which company he was in and when. Contact me through my profile if you want information on contacting the 2ID-KWVA.

There is a Lt. Col. Robert O'Donnell listed on the Silver Star page for the 2nd Infantry Division, 1950-51, but it doesn't list specific units. Could be a relative too.

Thanks for the reply, and for your service, and that of your grandfathers.
