Hi CAV!
oh! FLORIDA! Is there a possibility your brother is near Inverness? Do you think he would contact the librarian about the veteran who has lost his unit of Imjin River Scouts? The library is the Lakes Region Library located at 1511 Druid Rd., Inverness, FL 34452. phone: 352-726-2357 fax: 352-726-2814 Tom Mueller is the librarian and his email is tommcclib@yahoo.com I will alert Tom, and hope for a success story. |

He thought Imjin River Scouts were forgotten.
Hi Cav and ALL, Between the veteran/historians here, and the veteran Scouts on the Imjim River page, I can safely say you have brought joy to an Imjin River Scout veteran who thought the Scouts were forgotten. I can not imagine the sorrow he must have been feeling, thinking that all those he served with had become Unknown Soldiers. Here is today's information from Tom Mueller, the librarian who is coordinating all of this. Please initiate personal contact with the veteran by making direct contact through TOM MUELLER Tom Mueller MLS Lakes Region Library 1511 Druid Rd. Inverness, FL 34452 ph: 352 726-2357 fax: 352 726-2814 email: tommcclib@yahoo.com (edited down to essential information) received today from Tom Meuller: "Thank so much to you (for responding) to my query. I'm passing all of this information on to our patron, who I see at least weekly. While he is not computer literate, I have printed your responses and given them to him. I'll let him decide if he wants to make telephone contact with the great listers who have offered their help. With his interest in his old unit - who he initially thought had been forgotten and lost to history - I strongly suspect he will make the contacts. Thanks again, .... Tom Meuller" Thank you for caring ~ rainbowtrout |

Imjin Scout was not a specific unit, but rather a title bestowed upon those Soldiers who had completed a tour of duty on the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. I earned my certificate in 1989. www.imjinscout.com is a great resource for him to check, and I will list some books written about the DMZ (though I don't think any of them actually use the term "Imjin Scout"). North of the River The Fencewalker Freedom Pagoda Those are just the titles, I can't think of the author's names. You can find them all on Amazon. |
