I'll be making my pilgrimage to Italy sometime in early fall, and am hoping to arrange an English speaking guide. My plans include a trek along the Rapido River, then Anzio, then up highway 7, to the bend in the road four miles from Rome (though realistically I know that's now probably part of Rome proper). From there I will go the AMC at Nettuno. Were any of you gentlemen part of that campaign, and do any of you have suggestions about guides? My aunt and uncle tried to do this in 1954, but information was still classified, so I'm doing it for them, little as it may be. Their son, my cousin, was a legitimate hero, and their greatest treasure, so this is an act of love and devotion, as well as a research trip. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you gentlemen have, and as I told a group of Anzio veterans a year ago, without you, without your sacrifice, my life wouldn't be what it is. And I plan to say a quiet 'thank you' to General Truscott at the cemetery, for his singular act at the dedication - turning his back on the dignitaries to salute the dead and apologize for the bloodbath that took so many of them unnecessarily. If anyone can help with my itinerary (SIC?), I would be most grateful. Thank you, gentlemn, Barbara
