D-DAY at Iwo - The USS Enterprise CV-6 provided the combat air patrol at Iwo in February 1945. They flew 652 sorties at Iwo. Ten (10) days were flying 24/7 by VF(N)90 deployed in CV-6.

Now ponder this, there was not one successful enemy air strike on the beachhead or on our Marines while the USS Enterprise was there.
Every one came back alive. Everyone.
