None of them have computers to sign on with, most are over 60 years old I'm the youngster at 58 and our get to gather is about the only social things they do....We do help each other if one needs a ride to the VA and other things..No one is in charge and we have a lot of fun..

Yes, well I have held my silence too long, First off you so called "defenders of mil.com" have forgotten this whole DVG idea, idiots like Dave M run very experienced people away from this forum. Freddy if your watching I am with you SIR. I have posted here for a while and every day "HE" suspends people that don't match his opinion. I have enjoyed spouting off here but the like of Dave M and anyone like him are tearing down the whole freedom off speech. Enjoy letting him tell you what to say.

CoolThe DVG was formed without officers,is a Organization that helps other Vets..FREE LANCE...the main thing is when you do good for another Vet make sure you let all of us know. I went to the local VFW wearing my DVG shirt and was asked about the Organization..I explained to them that we were not a "Organized Organization" but a "Group" with no "Rules" other than doing good for other Vets without hesitation when the opportunity arises. The onset of this "Group" began with "OldArmyLove" and spread to this ...I myself am a firm believer that like any other membership type organization one "Tends To" like it because of the "Cool Uniform or Neat Logo"..you will always get people who join just for that..it's a Fact...What also happens is you end up having members who join...and then the "Novelty" wears off ..it's a fact. The "Originals" who eventually expanded to Freddy, Ron ect,ect took the ball and helped with the "Pledge".."Motto" and the "Reunion" The original "Reunion" started with about 22 who were going to attend..Four members actually showed up..I can understand this because the "Majority of Members are disabled..plus thats what happens once again to a organization..it's a fact.

Now we can all fight and tear this down negating everything that our "Hardest Worker for the Group" Ron is doing..or we can work together making this "Group" do what it was originally intended to do..."HELP THE VETRAN"

My next comment is on "Personalities"

With any "Group" or "Organization" there always is "Conflict"..this is a Fact. HOWEVER...I have seen posts knocking different people for their "Rule Makeing" Now ..I don't always agree with how some things are handled by comments..suggestions..However..thinking back as a NCO, I can remember having a "Rough Day" and saying something off line to a soldier...only to regret it later..Guess what????
I FIND MYSELF DOING THE SAME THING ON SOME OF THESE FORUMS!!! HazeGray1977..I have read your post and am trying to think of what to say to take away your anger..The comment that scares me the most is:

"I have enjoyed spouting off here but the like of Dave M and anyone like him are tearing down the whole freedom off speech. Enjoy letting him tell you what to say.

My answer to this comment is: Yes, DaveB sometimes does have his way of saying things that tend to work on me like nails on a blackboard...However..When he reads some of my comments, I am sure it works the same way..Just like your comment about him..

Freddy,if you are reading this, I am sure that after taking time to digest the point I am trying to make..You will understand. Think back..There were things that the Col. said to me about what I could or could not do..But I went right on the edge of insubordination..and got the mission done..Personality clashes have been..and always will be.

In conclusion, I hope I was the first one to comment on this subject...My wish is to continue to help others in need, (The DVG MISSION") and develope friendships with others "No Matter Their Thoughts, Desires,Personalities, Quirks,...because I know for a fact....Life is too short to argue and fight..enjoy all of the pleasures of friendship while you can..Make a differance in someones life to make it a little more enjoyable for them..That is what life is really about! Cool

Exactly my point, I had many senior people back me when I was on active Duty. I have and always will say what I think my regret on the prior post was calling Dave M an idiot. I do say things out of anger sometimes and regret it. My point is exactly DVG and anyone who wishes to stomp on anyone's freedom of speech! Again I think some reigns need to be pulled on suspending people over petty things. I truely hope that Freddy reads this because other than Dave B there are no individuals who will make a stand and say what needs to be said. Sorry for any disruption of the "Flow"

I sit here reading this web site about 6 hours aday and have gotten very good info from here. I got great infor from Freddy,Dave B, Ron and of course Bruce.
I have told many of my Vet friends that if you have a question on something to do with the Va go on the military.com web site.
Freddy, you told it like it was and sometimes a Vet needs to here it that way and I learned from it.
I think James is on the right track-Help others that need it, be friends and keep this group together.
Thanks Shipmates,
Bob

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE DVG MEMBERS

As the founding member of the DVG and reading the postings by JAMES, STEVE, others...Under normal circumstances I WOULD NOT have reactivated my friggen account, but after reading the posts, I feel compelled, as follows:

HAZEGRAY aka STEVE is RIGHT !!

and you JAMES are wrong...diplomacy belongs at the State Department and left for politics...The Service Branch...IF you were a TRUE LEADER OF MEN...had no place for it. The Army..for me...wanted LEADERS, simple as that. Make no mistake about it though, there were plenty of brown nosers and politicians and diplomats while I served...BUT I WAS NOT ONE OF THEM...I raced through the ranks quickly from Private to Sergeant..Because I LED TROOPS, and did it well. I went from E-1 to E-7 in 7 years, and promoted to E-7 OUT OF BOTH THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ZONES, in fact, I wasn't in any zone, but my record spoke for itself....sure Combat and Combat Arms MOS's helped along the way I am sure, BUT THEY WERE NOT THE DEFINING REASONS WHY.

I ran against many a Tree...to be sure...

I peesed off many a Commander along the way...but I prevailed James...not because I walked any line, fine, course or slippery...NO....Contrary, I prevailed because I was right!!......I stood my ground. The troops under my command came first, middle and LAST..there were no compromises, and I was NEVER one to compromise either, because I was charged to LEAD and to care for the soldiers and see to their needs...THEIR BUFFER TO ABUSE FROM PEOPLE OF RANK, COMMAND OR OTHERWISE...WAS...ME !! and i did my job a best as it could possibly be...I can say with pride that all those that served under me KNEW that I would be FAIR...that I would LISTEN and that I would STAND MY GROUND...AND THAT IF THE SOLDIER WAS RIGHT...HE KNEW...YES..HE KNEW...THAT HE COULD COUNT ON ME TO STAND WITH HIM AND DEFEND HIM....I NEVER PLAYED THE DIPLOMATIC GAME JAMES, AND I NEVER LOST EITHER..THAT IS THE THING ABOUT LEADERSHIP...AS LONG AS YOU LEAD WITH HONOR AND DEDICATION..THERE WILL NEVER COME A TIME TO COME CLOSE TO INSUBORDINATION...I HAVE BEEN INSUBORDINATE MANY TIMES IN MY CAREER...OR SO THE COMMANDERS SAY...BUT I MYSELF...WOULD SAY...NO..I WASN'T INSUBORDINATE, I SIMPLY..LED !!

I am sorry for you if you feel that at any time, a need to walk a line with the colonel(what made him right in the first place? his rank?...perhaps he was wrong all the time and you simple didn't excercise the strength and duty of YOUR RANK...

Dave_M and I do not like each other...fact

I can live with that...fact

This site consistently claims "private enterprise" well..so what? IT IS STILL A FORUM, it is still a place for discussion, venting is no more than a form of discussion, dissention is no more than an expression...THE POWERS THAT BE DO ABUSE THE POSITION AND SITE BY SHEER INTIMIDATION OF REPRISAL VIA "SUSPENSION"...BUT RARELY DOES ONE....WITH THE EXCEPTION OF "RONCO" WHO I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR..STAND UP FOR ANYONE HERE...NOPE IT IS MUCH EASIER TO SIT ON THE SIDELINES eh? and watch till the storm blows over...now RONCO...I have read Dave_M openly state frustration with..but nothing ever happens to RONCO..why? Because he doesn't back down..and..HE IS RIGHT.

So the question becomes why do some get corrected...suspended...threatened with...and others go unscathed?....Maybe paRT OF THE REASON LIES WITHIN THE dvg and its own meaning...you all have that wonderful looking icon...but rarely do you people live by its meaning...I wonder HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD HAVE COME BACK OUT OF INACTIVITY LIKE I JUST DID TO STAND UP FOR ONE VETERAN WHO MENTIONS MY NAME AND IN SO DOING IS ASKING ME TO RESPOND????? HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD STAND UP FOR ANYONE..HERE?...Don't tell me..!!!
You need to look at yourself and answer...for the answer lies in the mirror right next to the question.

with all due respect...BRUCE did not come up with the DVG name..I did.
with all due respect...It was me that made up the motto and its creed

and with all due respect....it was me that felt LET DOWN because so many of you have failed yourself by not living up to what it was all about.

James....While I consider you a great personal friend...I have in all my life drawn a line between friendship and my personal beliefs in right and wrong..and I suppose the easiest way to remain friends with everyone...would be to walk a DIPLOMATIC line....

But....yanno....it's not my style...I CALL IT THE WAY IT IS !!

ERES TU!!

WHILE I RESPECT YOUR STATEMENT...WITH ALL DUE RESPECT..I DISAGREE...AGAIN...

I TOLD IT LIKE IT WAS......NOT BECAUSE """""""SOMETIMES""""""""" A VET NEEDS TO HEAR IT THAT WAY....CONTRARY...IT IS HOW A VET NEEDS TO HEAR IT ALL THE TIME...HE GETS ENOUGH CRAP AND BULL AND RUN AROUND THE ROPE FROM ALL AROUND HIM...WHEN HE HEARD FROM ME...HE GOT A STRAIGHT ANSWER...NO MORE..NO LESS..

P/S I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO COME BACK AND POSTS ANYMORE...READ AND LEARN PEOPLE...READ AND LEARN.
