Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about MacDill? We are army and are going to be stationed there. I would really like to know about housing. I have 3 kids between the ages of 9 to 7 months. Any info would be great. Thanks!!
Hi, this is a little late, but I was stationed at MacDill AFB and even though I'm no longer in the Air force I was on MacDill AFB a couple of weeks ago for a meeting. The on-base housing is great! The base has spent a lot of time and money upgrading old housing and building new housing. I have been stationed at and on many military bases and this is one of the best. The base offers a beach, parks, running and walking trails, a couple of golf courses, camping and shopping and gas stations on base. Cavilian housing runs right up to one of the three gates and there is plenty of housing in the area. I lived off-base and on-base when I was stationed there with my family, and we loved both experiences. Often military personnel buy houses in the area and will rent it out when they change duty stations. Also, if you are considering working when you get there, you should contact the Military Family Employment Advocate at the loacl One-Stop Career Center. These are state funded job centers and the military family advocate works solely for the military family members looking for work or education and training to improve their employability.
