That's because Meridian is not much more than a wide spot on I-20. It's a very small town and has a naval training facility.
Diane Ladd, who has been an acress since 1959, and Sela Ward, most notably known from the TV shows Sisters, Once and Again and House, M.D., are both from Meridian.
It's located about 30-45 minutes from Jackson and an hour from Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide) and Hattiesburg (Univ of S. Miss).
I've never stopped for longer than 10 minutes there. It's always just been a waypoint for me between Dallas and Atlanta. Just one more town to check off before getting to my destination.
