I try my best to remember that without you and your CG, my CG wouldn't exist! Then there are about 19 generations of folks behind you! That said, I hope that there is a dramatic change between what we were when I came in and what it will be when I leave. No change can only guarantee one thing and that is no improvements were made! I agree changes are necessary for the service to evolve. When I was in though there was a lot less political correctness and I could get drunk without getting in trouble.... and there were a few movie-worthy barroom brawls that I am sure would not b etolerated today. Big Grin

You just got to find a bar that doesn't allow Cell Phones with Cameras in it!

Actually one of them was noteworthy enough to make the newspapers from Ketchikan to Juneau to Skagway to Sitka......as a result we ended up in fights in every port we hit that trip. Luckily Officer's were involved too so no one got in trouble.

This puts the OSC list through #31 as of April 1. The cut is #52. I wonder how low they will go by the end of the year and the last revised cut that normally comes out in August will say. Angel/Devil

Remember the two things that have the biggest effect on Chief advancments: CWO Appointments, which kick off big in June/July and retirements, which usually hit in late summer, early fall.

So Most honorable MC would it be safe to assume that since we are at 52 that 54 has a good chance to advance off this list. Just wondering either way I will be taking the SWE again just in case. Thanks in advance for any insight you may have MC.

I would say you are in the right frame of mind for sure, take the SWE with a smile on your face! That said, don't do what I did about 6 years ago. I was #6 (I think) on the E-8 SWE and sure I was going to make it. I was below the cut, so I 'showed up' for the SWE. I didn't make it and ended up in the 20s on the next list becuase I didn't take the SWE as seriously as I normally do. Luckily, I pulled it out as the very last person to make it off that list.

MC,

Do they just bump numbers of people up who merged to IS? i.e. if you were #65 and 62-64 merged to IS and came off the list, then they come out with another cut that said the cut is 64 would you assume #64 on the list?

No one ever officially states #65 is the cut. They give a name. That person and everyone above them is guaranteed advancement off of that cycle.

The only 'have to make' as many as there are empty slots. A big push one cycle often means a smaller push the next as those people are not eligible to move up.

That seems a bit flawed the way they do that.

i mean who deserves it more the coastie that placed 130 or the one who came in 50.

Neither one. The person that derserves it is the next person on the list when an opening occurs. Every single person on the list 'deserves' to be advanced.

Hey MC, I know that you can't predict the future, but I was wondering about the odds of the 07 OSC revision clearing 4 more (atleast)?
