Oy...
We bought out here - so my first thought is to stay in the area... Only two though... After that though it looks like this:
St Pete, Seattle, Kings Bay GA, Keyport WA (both MFPU's) Memphis TN and GP Astoria...
Crossing my fingers - housing market sucks and I'd hate to leave the wife and kid to sell the house w/o me - but that's what I get for buying I guess...

How many E-7s got a sea duty notification? I got one for AY08. I just came off a 210 last year summer and I still got a notification. But there is only 15 ship billets available.

Dan,

I was in the same position last time I transferred. The housing market was awful. We ended up selling the house for 10,000 less than what we owed on it. We had a VA loan and the VA covered the difference. It is called a short sale or compromise sale.

If you run into the same problem and have a VA loan look into this. I wish someone would have told me earlier because I was GEO for 3 months and didnt have to be.

Good Luck.

No Sea Duty notification here. I was pretty much told I wouldnt go to another boat unless I make E-7. Hoping to stay in the fleet somewhat though with ATG or maybe the CAT team...... Will see what suprises are out there though.

The reason I got the sea duty notification is because I am supposed to make chief next year, no surprise there. I was suprised to be a sea duty candidate after just coming from a 210 last summer. If I don't get a ship next year then I am going to put in for the Cat team at Camslant.

I'd go there in a heartbeat.
Of course I'll take any cutter in a heartbeat... that's all that will be on my list.
With only 15 boats it looks like it will be pretty cutthroat to get one.

Anyone wanting the CAT position, consider yourself forwarned, unless they've changed their procedures, you won't necessarily be assigned CAT. Everyone qualifies on the OPSDECK first then competes for the CAT positions, again, unless they've changed the procedures.

I think maybe the top 20 go sea duty notifications, but just a shot in the dark.

From what I heard through the grapevine every OSC with less than 4 years of rated sea time got sea candidate notifications. Which is funny because I think with the revised list there are only 9 open ship billets. Of course I open this to be proven wrong.

Waylander,

Your statement is kind of confusing. Jaden and Hector are talking about E-6's on the OSC SWE 07 list. When you say that all Chiefs, with less than 4 years sea time got the underway email. Are you talking about E-7's due to xfer this year? Are you talking about all the E-6's on the OSC SWE 07 list? Are you talking about both? As far as 9 open billets.... I count 15 open billets from 14 cutters.

Right now only the top 11 on the May 07 SWE list for OSC have been notified. I know at least 4 OSCS are making it possibly up to 8.

I am number 12 on the list and did not get a notification, however I was told to pick OS1 billets and prepare to transfer again in FY09 so I guess I will get one then.

Where did you get that number? Just curious because I am #10 on the May 07 list and I did not get a sea duty notification.
