Although the unit discussion is funny, it may help to understand that that decision was made to focus on the fact that it is not a 'one person' deal everywhere. The 'collection of people' making up the Comms watch is the Comms Unit. Some places (and some times) this may be one person, other places (and times) it may be more.

SAROPs has its ups and downs. With so many units logged into the server it can get overloaded. SARDO is a commonly used term at my unit but when we send out emails we refer to each other as SAR Dogs. I help other Sectors and Districts with their SAROPs every once in a while and in most cases its operator error. There are the those occasions when it is actually the server. Try combining SARSAT with SAROPs and then tell me you have problems.

plz dont get me started on SARSAT/SAROPS. We just spent the last month on the STL server, because it was more stable. We were crash up to 6 times a day on the D13 server, till they got it fixed.

A lot of people dislike SAROPS, I for one actually think it is a great tool to use when it allows you to use it. Now go try to reopen someone elses case they started and then weather data. That is my issue with SAROPS. Other than that I do think it has more pro's than con's.
