Under it's original name:

COMMSTA Portsmouth.

What I always knew it as (83-86 on the
Big D) before the CG wanted to be like the
Navy and call it CAMS.

NMN NMN DE NOWK NOWK INT ZBZ K

Cool

That brings back memories, I answered dependable on hf zni1 plenty of times. I was there 93-97 during the time we shut down cw. Pic below was around early 94 right after they built the wheel chair ramp, before the office spaces were added on the left end of the building (you could still smoke at the back door of the commcen, back door stayed open all night Roll Eyes ) and the admin end wasn't expanded yet either. I went back about 8 years later and now there are buildings out front and I think there may be more out back as well. It was really growing out there.

I don't know of any reunion forums either but I'd be interested in attending if we can get one together.

Cool pic. I remember when they first started construction on the Garages to the left of the road going up to the building. Before they laid the foundation it was all dirt, which soon became all mud. Throw in a '77 Ford F-150 w/33's and it eventually led to good 'ole mid-watch muddin' sessions! Yee haw!

Wow, nice to see you Doug! The day I took those pics I was going to work on a Saturday evening. You and I probably had the mids that night together. Small world isn't it.

The truck to the right by itself was RMCM Mike Dyer, before he bought the red toyota, and I don't know why his truck would have been there on a weekend. The tercel belonged to Joels wife but I can't remember her name. The green tauras on the left was Bruce Hurley, and the Jeep belonged to a guy they called Zeus, but I can't remember what his real name was.

What are you driving these days? You always had some kind of bada$$ ride...M3, Supra, built up F-150. Think you even had a Camaro at one point, sans mullet of course. Big Grin

I actually just got orders to CAMSLANT.

This is my first duty station. Any suggestions/advice? I really need help with a place. I've got a wife and son but no word yet on housing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm at camslant at the moment, its been good so far, they have BRAND NEW housing which looks really good(on base). They have plenty of houses for sale/rent around town(chesapeake, virginia beach, norfolk) because this is such a big military area. North Carolina is the cheapest (my experiance)if you are looking to buy and no traffic.

I lived on Osprey Court back in the day...It was nice then. Even better if it's brand new now. A 2 minute commute is nice! Especially after a midwatch. It was a pretty good haul to get to Great Bridge to do anything, but the trade-off was worth it. My commute now is 1 1/2 hours...boy do I miss the good 'ol days!

Ive talked to one lady from housing and she siad that I would only get a 2 bedroom since I was an OS3 and had one kid. But when I called again they said they only had 3 BR's and there was a 3-6 month wait. Any credibility to this? Or better yet, does anyone have a good contact to call?

Thanks for all the input

When was that picture taken? I was there from 1999-2002, and I swear that's my black Kia Sephia next to the Jeep.

Section 3 for life!
