Hello,

I am new to the site and have a few questions regarding OS 'A' school. I will begin Jan 11, 2010.

During what week will I find out what billet I have been assigned to? Also, do I need a laptop?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

I would HIGHLY suggest bringing a laptop w/ microsoft word and a thumbdrive.

Otherwise you will be at the mercy of the computer lab and their hours. You will be doing alot of logs.

Also you can susbcribe to internet service in your room. For some reason, cell service is rather sketchy at Petaluma so air cards work rather intermittently. Its better to get an actual line installed into your room.

As far as billet selection, I do not remember offhand what week this happens. It is towards the end though.

Best of Luck!

Yeah - can't always trust those. I'll put some critical documents on my thumb drive so I don't take away from my laptop's memory and just in case the hard drive defecates the windmaker

...pretty clear that the original intent was to do school work on your laptop and bring to work on the thumb drive. Then what? Smile

To answer the question that I think your asking is, the workstations that they use for the radio logs are a non standard workstation. They are not connected to the WSIII network and can use a jump drive to bring thier homework to school to print out. I hope that clarifies everything for you.
