Just wanted to get on here and tell everyone that knew me that things are going decent for me, still unemployed but there is hope as I just interviewed for a position at Boeing in Seattle.

I am really missing the Coast Guard and would give anything to still be a part of it. I miss teaching at the former RD and now OS School and really miss all of my old buds.

Thanks again to everyone who made a huge impact in my unfortunately short career and wish all the best to everyone (especially all my old students).

Respectfully,
Mike Mazziotta

Mike,
I remember you, man. I was part of RD 03-02, you were my Class Advisor. I remember being in class with you, RDC Roberts, RD1 Berrera, RDC Bach, RDCS Graham, and MCPO Bunch.
Sorry to here you got out but I really appreciate all you did for me and the impact it's made on my career.

Good to hear from ya. We had some good times. You really helped set up the school. I'm sorry the CG did what they did...but hope the best for ya.

Stay in touch.

Good to hear things are going good on your end. I know you remember me...I was in OS A-school class 10-05. I still don't see why you like the Broncos..didn't they give you a reason to jump ship this year.LOL.

I was in RD school while you were there (don't remember the class number (Aug 02-Dec 02)). Care to say why you are no longer in the CG? It may be too personal, but I thought I'd ask.

Bottom line is I got screwed over by two really pathetic Officers, who had absolutely know intention of ever trying to help me and only wanted me to fail. Tuff to have an Officer lie about and the next thing you know your up for discharge. I wasn't able to defend myself adequately since I did not have that Officer buddy system like them.

Yea I know sounds like I'm complaining, but it is in all honesty the truth.

My command made me see a Psychologist who felt I showed Personality Disorders and thats was about it. But the way I was dealt with by my command and how a simple lie got me there was really terrible thing.

But No Hard Feelings to the Guard as it has and will always be a part of me and the people and units I experienced were nothing short of amazing. From my first ship the Mellon to majority of my career as an Instructor, I truly feel that I did make a great impact on the Guard and the OS rating itself. I just hope that I did half of what the Coast Guard did for me.

I'm glad to see old students remembering me. Really makes me feel good to know that just maybe I possibly impacted you and others in a Positive way.

I do miss it and would give anything to come back and continue, but I am going to move on and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. But it's no joke, it's really tough to find a great job out here in the civilian sector. But it will never compare to the Guard.

God Bless

Okay, I guess I see the story. I didn't know you outside of the RD school so it was an instructor/student relationship.

I will say, I just entered the civilian world, and I love every minute of it. I wouldn’t go back. Of course I got out for my own reasons; my enlistment wasn’t over with either. Find something you enjoy and you will soon not miss the CG as much as you do now. There is life on the other side, and I love it!!!

Oh yeah, what command was it? (again if you don't mind answering) I think I know but I am not sure. If I am correct they are horrible examples of Coast Guard Officers!!!

Mike:

Yes the team is doing well. Won last year and are in first again this year. I haven't bowled for a while due to surgery this January (just got back to work after 7 weeks medical leave)... but will probably be back bowling in another few weeks (not supposed to lift too heavy of things right now, yet.).

I'm glad you're moving on. I know it's tough to do after what they did to you. I tried my best in my testimoney. But to answer your question in another thread... yes, they can make that call based on one test. As Xo in Memphis we had similar situations. Is it foolproof and always correct? Hell no, that's why an Admin Board is suppose to look at the entire situation. So given the results of your board I was truly surprised and "disappointed" by the outcome.

Remember, that command, doesn't represent all Officers or Commands.

Again, Best Wishes and G'luck on your civilian career efforts.

V/R
Mr. A.

Yep, I fully understand that they don't represent the entire Guard. Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth, but whatever. Anyways glad to hear things are well...maybe you should move to a 7 pound ball, hehe.

Mazz,

Have you gone to the VA? If you were discharged because of a mental (medical) condition you should be eligible for some benefits.

I also remember you from RD "A" school. But not as a student, was a bit older.

I retired am and also missing my friends and job. Sometimes wish I had stayed, but then I get to see my wife and kids everyday.

The VA can provide re-training oppurtunities. Make sure you get a disability rating, it helps if you want to get a government job.

I was down at Intel School when you were teaching RD "A" school.

Heyyy..

It's really nice to see you're doing well! I was one of your students in OS School. My last name was Matthews then. I swear, I was just talking about you yesterday.. I believe the conversation was about you referring to one of my classmates as a pole smoker. Not that it wasn't deserved, of course. Big Grin You definitely made A School a little easier to get through. Again, nice to see you, so to speak, & good luck with the Boeing position.

What does it matter where you smoke...at a pole, a butt can, wherever, so long as the Smoking Lamp is Lit!?

I think I faintly remember my butt getting up and dancing to that Bluegrass crap. I think I heard everyone yelling "Go Shorty", lol. That trip was so much fun...so glad I got the opportunity to do it. I didn't have to pay a dime either. Glad to see the 2 of you are doing well.
