a. Somebody who is not me. (yeah yeah, everyone is gonna roger up on that) b. Somebody who cares about the future of the Rating and the people in it. c. Somebody who can figure out how to get from here to there.
Whoever it is, I will be honored to work for them in whatever job the AOs send me too.
I would think that having as many previous jobs would only enhance a members experience, not take away from it.
My choice would be Master Chief Fields who's currently the VTS supervisor in Seattle, WA. I first met him when I was stationed on the CGC HAMILTON. He was working with the ATG out of San Diego. From sea to shore, his resume would be one that should peak the interests of those that make the selection. He is the kind of leader that takes the time to listen and offer suggestions and makes sound decisions. I'd bet anyone that has had the privelige of working/meeting with Master Chief Fields would tell you the same. My interactions with him have left a positive impression with me. The defintion of a Coastie and a family man, the OS rate would benefit from his selection. So ends my plug for MC Fields.
I think Master Chief Bach would be a good selection. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him from when I had the privilege to work for him on the Jarvis. Sharp guy all around, and I have never seen anyone with such an encyclopedic knowledge of the their job/rate (taking nothing from anyone else, of course).
Whoever the next RFMC is, I hope they are as accessable as Master Chief Rolfe.

Had a conversation with a buddy a couple of days ago and we both threw his name out as someone we'd like to see in the job. I doubt he'd go for it though.
IMHO, the next RFMC has already been selected and that the msg was only a formality. Another legacy QM will get that posn, and Master Chief Rolfe will be taking the OS "A" School Master Chief posn, again confirming that the solicitation msg was only a formality. I could be completely wrong here, but HIGHLY doubt I am. You've read it hear first...

I have been hearing great things about MCPO Bach. But who would be an excellent choice to be RFMC? I don't know.
So MC, does this mean next year you will not be a Real Master Chief anymore?
I had the pleasure of working for MC Bach and I can tell you that I have never learned so much about the Coast Guard and life in general. I think MC Bach has the knowledge base and truely cares about the Coast Guard and the direction that it is heading. My vote is for him, and if he were to run for president I would still vote for him.
