does anyone know about the online SAR fundamentals on learning portal. it has been shut down and now i have nothing to study for it. Is it going to get waived?? Also what about the EOCT, is it waived???
You need to look at the Virtual Classroom in the learning portal. Log on to the learning portal, access the virtual classroom on the right side of the page, log in there, look under USCG Courses on page 2 near the bottom and there it is. In order to take the test your ESO has to request a logon and you take it with them. There are practice exams, but the test for qualification needs to be taken through the ESO online. EOCT is still waived for now.
There is a good study guide for SAR fundementals on http://www.boatswainsmate.net/ But you will need to register for the class so your ESO can request a key for you to take the test,
Although the SAR FUNDS test was online for the past year or so, it has once again become a paper test. The course work is viewable through the virtual classroom, but the test is paper based and as such you'll need to ensure your ESO has it on hand. This became a problem for an OS3 on my ship as we approached the cut off dead line while underway and our ESO did not have the test available.
