Confused
I know they were supposed to be finalized today, but how do we know for sure. Anyone know if the list is actually accurate right now?

Yeah, It's really not looking good. I wonder if the only way an OS2 (or have a better chance to) get sea time is to put in for both OS2 and OS1 and see what happens.

And the OS1's that need sea time... should they put in for the OS1 and OS2 billets to 'see what happens'? (please note the sarcasm)

I listed all boats...well, all 7-8. I wonder exactly how many people will be putting in for boats. I'm assuming I'm SOL.

When talking about going to sea, the real question is HOW did you list all the billets.

If you put them at the bottom of your list, then dont say that "you listed them all" because 9 times out of 10 Master Chief will call you out on it when you make a future post asking why you didnt get a Ship when you listed them all.

IF you are wanting to go to sea, i highly recommend that your first 10 billets are sea billets and in your comments section of your E-resume; the first sentence should read something to the effect of "I want a sea billet".

Good luck on all your requests/assignments.

OSC H.

I was shocked to see there were no OS1 openings at either SEC Miami or Jacksonville. That leaves me with only 7 positions out of my top 6 places I want to go.

On a side note, what is up with the OS1 positions on the stateside 110's? My understanding was only the PARFORSWA boats had any OSs onboard.

Jade - thanks for saving me some typing!

OSCs and OS1s, please use the IDP sessions for e-resume planning discussions and help your folks do realistic e-resumes. There has never been an issue of people who demonstrate they want to go to sea not getting their sea duty. Period. The only thing I would add to Jades post is that you should list ALL open Sea Duty billets, then the rest of the sea duty billets not listed as open, and no land billets.

ok, after looking at all the billets, E-4 through E-6, whats up with 3rds having 50+ billets open, 2nds having 20, and first having 19. Ok what im getting at is to better my chances of getting underway, would putting 3rd and 1st billets along with my 2nd be ok. 1 up 1 down.

Sometimes though the AOs may look at your E-resume and see that you asked for several units in area "X" and that you asked for several of "Y" types of units. You may even ask for all but one X unit at Y location! Then, that remaining X unit at Y location has an opening. It is absloute simple common sense that you would be assignable to that billet without a bit of complaining or issues.

So with the new message out about the e-resume deadline being pushed back(way back), how does that effect my already submitted resume?

I listed all but two underway billets(Pascagula...no thanks), and I'm wondering how this assignment period will be effected by the ME rating? If resumes aren't due in until after 30NOV, when should sea candidates(who put in for U/W billets) be expecting soft orders?

I'm in the process of trying to find the message on CGMS, but everyone in the CC printed it out and looked at it. We were all pretty bummed because it said that because of unforeseen complications due to standing up ME, that NO e-resumes (not even priotiy 1) were to be submitted until the 30NOV09.

The message said that the current list is inaccurate, and that the "official" list will be out on the 25OCT09.

As a sea candidate who wants to desperately leave his current unit, this isn't something I don't take lightly. I'm 100% sure I read it all correctly. I'll update when/if I find the message. Otherwise, consider me crazy/wrong.

EDIT: R252030Z SEP 09 ALCGENL
This is very similar to the one we saw, but the dates are slightly off. This says not to submit your e-resumes until 11NOV09. I'm still on the hunt for the message we read here.
