OK, I got a lot of feedback about the last force notes, most of it overwhelmingly positive, but I want to clarify some thing that may have caused confusion.
First thing: The CU, SU and OU comp codes are SPECIFICALLY for Sectors/Groups. At this time they are not attached to higher level Command Center Billets and may not be earned at those units. I am still thinking through a solution/plan for those units.
Second thing: Comps and Qual are independant. Qual requirements are governed by the CC Manual. Comps require the quals, and as you see, more. That means to get OU qual's, you do not need SU or CU. To get the Comp, you must have them. Comps are a higher professional level accomplishment. (Note: As I have said before it boggles my mind how a CU can be allowed to ah, 'use the facilities,' or any other break away from the speakers unless someone else on the floor is qualified to stand by, but it is currently not a requirement)
Third thing: Sure, it is more difficult to follow the path required of the Comps than to not do so. Remember though that these Comps do not have a 'use by' date. You could have earned the comp two or three tours ago and it meet the MINIMUM requirement to earn the next one.
Fouth thing: We Senior folks owe this to our more junior folks. They now have a clear professional development path both ashore and afloat and they match up fairly well.
The Elephant bites section is good, but it would be nice to have the answers from previous questions on there. Maybe even just a hint the first force notes afterwards (like the reference) then the answer the next.
I have went back and forth on that a couple of times. I ended up deciding that if folks want to learn, they can look it up. When they do that, they will likely learn two other things by accident! Three for the price of one!
