Next week I am going back to MEPS to do my consult and hopefully pick my MOS. I am looking to join the reserves as a combat engineer, but was confused/wondering what the difference is between an engineer CO/Batt that is light vs heavy.

Thanks for all your time and help.

The Combat Heavy Battalion I was in, dealt primarily with airfield and highway construction.

Heavy has heavy equipment, i.e. dozers, graders, excavators, dump trucks, cranes, rollers, etc., which do large construction projects like the ones posted above. Combat Engineers have ACEs, and deal with demo, bridging, route clearance, obstacle construction and clearance, mine clearance and setup and other things of that sort.
