I want to know more on EOD shool from someone who went to it. Could someone tell me how Phisical it is, if there is anything i can study before i go. Thanks
Physically, the hardest part is wearing the bomb suit.
For school, if you really want to study, learn ordnance color codes. Everything else is either classified or won't make sense without someone instructing you.
EOD does not fall under the Engineer Corps. But whatever.
Basic Training, then Redstone AL for 9 weeks (I've heard they shortened it to 6). Redstone is a "Prep" school. It gets you ready for the very tough corriculum in the next phase at Eglin AFB. Once you get to Eglin you can move your family down. Your going to be there a while. If you don't roll in school expect 9 months. But just plan on a year.
Rooster is right. Its all classified. But if you find a local Guard or Active duty unit they may help give you an Idea of what to expect if you ask them.
I'm Navy EOD so the pipeline is a little different, but as far as how hard EOD school is physically...I'd say it's all mental until we hit the Underwater portion and then it got really physical, but you wouldn't have to do that. Good luck.
The Army has a web site that gives you information on EOD School.
I will tell you as a former instructor and 29 years in the EOD field. The school will weed out the culls. My original class started with 25 warm bodies, 5 graduated in the original class and 10 graduated after they rolled back.
It is not an easy school as some people would lead you to believe. They will test your research ablility, your communication skill, your memorization skill, your team work ability, and your ability to work under stress.
As for physical ability, if you are not in shape forget it. You do PT everyday, you will wear a Toxigocial Protective Suit in the 100 degree FL sun. You will wear a 90+ lb bomb suit on operations. And you will be required to pass a PT test to graduate.
