Freakin Cannon Cocker's Big Grin Whisper

I had the pleasure of going on a shoot once for a week ... some fun stuff man !!... M198 155mm ...yeah baby Wink Gun

did not really care for the new 6x6 automatic tranmission truck's though Mad .... pulling out of our Pos. , thick mud ... truck full of munition .... had to off-load all !! Curse ( before turnover ) , to get the truck out .... including the 198 .....

yeah those automatic 6x6's... what a piece of junk .


What about the new feild piece - the new M777 ( Badazz Cool) I dont really care for how the barrel fold's over to hook to hitch though Roll Eyes let's just drag-it by the barrel now Roll Eyes Argue Big Grin

Humping ammo is what its all about. I never did like the automatics eithier. Always seemed underpowered. The new M777's are pulled like that because its easier to pull into a pos and set up your gun. Doesn't seem like much but during a hip shoot timing is everything.

Yeah ... you can get a whole lot more round's downrange with a M777 ...all Computerized Cool ...well , at least halfway computerized .... still gonna have e-manual labor with any towed piece Angry Whip

but I dont know about humping no 155mm round ... Yaah Mule Angry Whip Big Grin

I don't have issues with arty cause for the most part they're fulfilling grunt-like duties in Iraq right now.

Pulled from the barrel is old school russian, we just finally adopted it.

I don't recall any of guys being killed by short rounds, but cannon cockers were all right in my book. Defended an LZ in Elephant Valley RVN69 where the 105's were only yards in back of our bunker. When they'd fire, our emplacement shook like thunder.

Because they wouldn't share the dill pickles in the field, just like those grubby tankers. Carry enough extra groceries in their vehicles and don't share squat!

The ones calling in the air and cannon strikes in Nam used only a compass and map. It got really spooky when they yelled out, "danger close." They definitely had it together!
