* Knocks, removes cover, enters.*

I hate to intrude like this, but I have a question for my greener brethren. I just found out that my Ex's brother is at Parris Island, and graduating next month. I'm still on relatively good terms with their family and was intending on sending a card/gift for his graduation, but I'm not exactly sure what. I'm sure his family will shower him with personal gifts, and I wanted to send him something that was both professional and personal at the same time.

Can anyone offer a Sailor some sound advice?

There are a few items that can be useful when he hits the Fleet. You can either get him a watch w/ face cover, or a small Leatherman utility tool.

The watch is a good idea, also, check the Commandant of the Marine Corps' reading list. It has a list of recommended books for young Marines to read.

Nah... good idea for the barracks, but a waist of space when out in the field, and moving from barracks to barracks.

I hardly used my K-Bar. Leathermen's and Gerber's were more practical in the field. They were small enough to carry on your belt, and had tools to tighten up equipment, open MRE's and ammo crates.
