Hello all,
I have been out for over five years and have decided to re-enlist after I graduate from college. My question is how do I get certain uniform parts. I have my old issue still in the sea bag. The problem is some of my uniforms are no longer issued. Take for instance the cammies, boots, and probably a few other things I don't know about yet. How do I go about getting these uniform items before I have to check in to my MOS school. I've seen web sites that offer only true-spec stuff, I know this is not acceptable, and I probably need the articles before I step on a base. Any suggestions or hints.

HS... are you still in Cali? Are you going active or reserve? Are you applying for a commission?

Still in Cali up at Humboldt State. After graduation I'm going active duty enlisted. Thought about officer, but truth be told, I have no desire to go to the dark side. But who knows, maybe I'll change my mind after I get to my first unit and put in for it. I'll have the degree so I'll have options...... I think.

I had broken time. I had been out past my service obligation. When I reenlisted, I was issued all new uniforms. You are not required to maintain uniforms beyond your service obligation. They should issue new uniforms to you, everything an initial entry recruit would get in their seabag. I would not spend a dime of my own money, if I were you.

Thanks for the tip, I'll bring that up to the guys down at the recruiting station. They haven't brought that point up.

If you are still in IRR (obligated service), you are required to maintain your uniforms.

If not, you aren't.

Right or wrong, It is what it is. When I was on recruiting I put a retread back in boots after he'd been out about a year and a half. Turns out he was so sure he was never coming back in after he EAS'd he gave away all his uniforms. I ended up having to give him a small loan so he could at least have 1 of everything before he got orders out of my office.

my question is, can I pick and choose. Or, are they going to give me a full sea bag issue. I still have all of my service uniforms, spent the money and got the creightons, all I need is cammies and boots. Or anything else that was introduced post 2003.
