Lejuene E clubs were not exactly a "happening" place in the 80s, But one could go there with 10 bucks get all tore up and stagger back to the barracks with no trouble. If you were chick hunting go to town.

I always liked French Creek E-Club, for that reason. Didn't have to drive (the MP's were worse than nazi's), could stagger back to the barracks with no worries, and they played a decent mix of all kinds of music.

The manager, Karen, was great person, too!!!
Wink Sure wish I knew where she was now!!

Grunts hardly know how to act in the field, who would send them out to town and feed them Alcohol. Since they need to be at the armory in a moments notice, to Clean Weapons and Field Day....plus many deviants are confined to base....they have no other choice than the E Club!

Heres some new school stuff for all you old farts. I have been on Camp Lejeune for over 3 years and not once have I found, heard of or set foot in an E Club. I don't think they exist any more. We just get drunk in the barracks if we aren't off base.

When I was at LeJuene (97-00) it was in French Creek, next to the gym, but NO ONE ever went there that I knew. Maybe at the EClub on the Air Station for some Latino night or something, but never on LeJuene.

We drank on the catwalks in French Creek or went out the back gate to Surf City or the Marina (Which temporarily closed in the late 90's)

There was also a cool club out past the Walmart...all the way to the end of that road and you made a right at the gas station, but I forget what it was called.

I remember a couple of different ones on mainside lejuene. There was one a couple of blocks in across from the base theater. For awhile NCOS had to go upstairs, then the upstairs part turned into an over 21 club and NCOs had thier own club. The NCO club that I used to go to was just past swoop circle. This is all 1980s information though. I left swampy in 88 I don't know where anything is now.

Wow Dennis, you brought back some memories. I remember looking up the stairs and wondering what it would be like to go into the NCO Club.

you know what e-club was great? (in my own humble opinion of course)

the Banyan tree (air force e-club) on Kadena AFB in Okinawa.

I remember the Marines were restricted from going to it because of some of the problems between the flyboys and the Marines.

me and a few buddies managed to sneak in once. one of my buddies had a friend from his hometown who was in the air force and managed to get us in without any trouble.

the liquor wasn't cheaper, but the facility itself was nicer and the male to female ratio was definately lower. (probably 3 to 1 versus a Marine e-club ratio of 10 to 1)

not that it made too much of a differnce, since they are all servicemembers or dependents either way, but it was a better club. (or seemed to be anyway)

sadly, one Marine in our group got overly intoxicated and we were asked to leave.

Friday and Saturday night the E-club in Gitmo was the place to be, especially when the fleet was in. We were very territorial about Marine hill, and the squids new it. Their women came looking for men, and the guys who thought they were bad-asses came looking for trouble. It usually ended up in a brawl that looked like something out of the wild west. Marines vs. Navy vs. MP's. Lot's of fun. Probly can't get away with the sheeyat we pulled back then (86-87).

I think that was the Navy E-club. As I recall, our club on Marine Hill was officially called the Devil Dog Den, or something like that. We just called it the E-club. Staff NCO club was out back. We got invited back there for the occasional wet down or whatever.
