Don't get me started on big brother. Mad Seattle is installing 24 red light cams, and doing it very sneakily. They are saying, "tickets won't go against your driving records". Yeah right! That's today. But no guarantee that it won't change. They know that citizens would be up in arms about the cameras and have to lie about how they will be used. They are also saying they will "never be used for any other purpose than ticketing those that run red lights". YEAH RIGHT!

Rule of thumb: The phrase "Big Brother" isn't a phrase that means a well intentioned relative. Mad

GET THIS! Their own study shows that putting these cameras "does NOTHING to improve safety." Their own study! But guess what? They do generate revenue. Farking tax-grabbing liberals.

I heard a story about these cameras that were put in in another state (maybe Az); not sure. But the story I heard was right after installing the cameras, the yellow light time was changed from 4 seconds to 2. Interesting coincidence? I think not. In the intersection, when the light changes... $100, even if you entered it on a green light.

You may be even more amused to learn that the cameras are monitored by a private company that gets a cut of the action from "mail-in tickets".
Isn't that just ****ing special?

Mike...
There are already no less than 6 here in Tucson, with an additional 4 being implemented at our most dangerous intersections...
Like Seattle, we also have some deadly intersections that have had more than their share of messy meeting of metal.

This really has NOTHING to do with reducing accidents. It's all about easy money. They aren't even allowed (by law) to cite someone for traffic accidents they caused.

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

Here in DC ther are a lot of red light cameras and speed cameras. Although the infraction does not add points onto your license, the fines can be hefty. Originally, the cameras were placed in high problem intersections and roads to reduce accidents. Well "they" said on the news last month they were disappointed in the loss of revenue due to people obeying the law. Now the big question is "Were the cameras for safety or revenue?" With them b*tching about revenue, we now know thw answer.
