F-yeah! I posted something worthy of a temporary position at the top of the forum!

This might not be the right place to post, but I can't find a more appropriate board. Are there any insomniacs represented here? I think I am and its going to be the death of me. Nights like tonight, I don't sleep at all; all I can do is watch war movies, explore the net, and chain smoke. I tried to go to the doc, but Tricare says I need to do paperwork at my unit in order to get service out here. I'm done whining now, but if anyone has any advice (especially about sleeping medications) I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Nyquil (got to play with the dosage. Instead of two gel caps, one seems to work for me. Usually get around four hours sleep with one gel cap...and that seems to be enough nowadays.)
Otherwise, I'm with you. Too many times, I'm exhausted from lact of sleep, and hit the rack around 8:30 or 9:00 - only to wake up 2 or 3 hours later, and stay wide awake for the rest of the night.
I've tried Tylenol PM. It puts me to sleep, but sometimes it gives me a little bit of a hangover the following day.
NyQuill seems to work best for me too. I havent been using it much latley. I also used tylenol PM for a bit. Just one because two makes you pretty drowsey still when you wake up.
Yeah I usually go to bed around 3am in time for PT at 5:30. I too just browse the web, walk around the Barracks and see whats up, smoke and drink until I can't anymore and finally pass out.
I’ve found that 2 Benadryl about an hour before bed both help keep my allergies under check and help me to get to sleep without dragging the next day like Tylenol PM can sometimes do. During allergy season, if I don’t take anything I’ll occasionally wake in the middle of the night to a snot-soaked pillow!
I can go for months without any problems grabbing about 6 hours a night, which seems to be enough these days seeing as how I'm gonna have to get up a pee anyway. But sometimes I can't get to sleep no matter what and I'll take Sominex or Tylenol PM. If I'm experiencing multible nights of sleeplessness I'll alternate between the two.
I have gone through times of not sleeping. I was going through a really rough time of about a month a couple of months ago and tried all kinds of things people advised.
I decided to quit chewing and have slept like a baby since. I don't know if that was the problem but it sure has helped me.
To be, or not to be! Who be, me? You be, who? Hoo Wee!Pompous Profundus Expoundous!
I know its hard but STOP chain smoking. Don't drink any alchohol 5+ hours before bed, 3 hours for every ounce of alcohol or something like that. If I drank one beer within 2 hours before bed I can guarantee you I'd be up at 2am trying to go back to sleep.
