in the workplace? Wink

I only mention this because I'm in France. My company has a policy against any fraternization between the sexes. Wink Can't date anyone in the company. It's grounds for firing and in fact, two people have been fired for getting caught. Wink

Anyway, this is odd since our parent company is a French company. There, everyday, when someone comes into a room (i.e. a co-worker), for the first time each day, they go around and shake hands with everyone else in the room. When it's a gal/guy thing, they plant a big sloppy on both cheeks (face Wink ). And it's not one of those celebrity, air kisses... In the U.S., at our company, that would be considered sexual harassement. When the French visit, HR warns them of this. Roll Eyes

How is it where you work?

This recently came up at my company. One of the senior buyers who has worked here for at least 20 years. She would normally greet her contacts that came to visit her with a hug. She has been counceled and told not to do that anymore and nothing more than a handshaeke is acceptable.

I'm a touchy, feely kind of person. If the company went after me for hugging another employee or patting them on the back, I'd just have to say "See ya later". That just isn't me and it doesn't fit my grove.

Where I work it's all about intent. Was the contact suggestive of something? Difference between a pat on the back and a grab of the azz. If a person complains there must be an investigation. We see alot of handshaking/hugging/occasional kiss or two. But generally speaking inappropriate contact is a firing offense.

Sexual contact is strictly a no no. One of my fellow supers fired a girl and a guy for doing the nasty in the warehouse. Just a little to much touchy feely sort stuff there.

I work at a company that has 27 women! NO MEN AT ALL. But there is a no dating rule. The funny part about it is we are all married. And its a new rule. I wonder sometimes if I missed something at work and nobody is talking about it or maybe she is planning on hiring some hot men. Big Grin

Business practices in France are more conservative than in the U.S. In the U.S., it is normal to address bosses by their first names.

This is not so in France. Monsieur/Madame Chef is a requirement.
