Alot of us have had really bad experiences with MP's. Both in Iraq and stateside. I got pulled over at the gate because they thought the Stewarts Root Beer bottles in my backseat were beer. They pulled me over and told me to step out of the car. I told them "It's just root beer" and the uppity PFC told me "EXCUSE ME, Lance Corporal... DON'T CONFUSE YOUR RANK FOR MY AUTHORITY!"
I just didn't want to be late to work because the f'tard at the gate couldn't differentiate between root beer and beer.
And yes it was a real MP not just someone fap'ed to gate guard.

Oh man. what a tard. THE worst cliche a young MP can pull. For what it's worth; I seen a lot of these young Pfc tards get thier azz handed to them by NCO MP's for this shat. It still went on though. It took a few years' experience to get these kids to mature up and quit this stupid crap.
But, there's Marines out there too, who got a break when they needed hooked up, but you never hear about it.
As much as I dog on MP's and generally dislike them, I would kill to have Marine MP's working our Gate here at DLI instead of these f'ing civilian RentACop idiots.
At Ft. Knox, they f*cked with us at the gate constantly. Always searched our taxis. Seems like they liked to single us jarheads out.
Ft. Huachuca and Ft. Meade were the same. Whenever I went on base, they gave me the same sh*t. At least at Ft. Meade they were cool with me after they found out I wasn't in MOS school. Ft. Huachuca, they just treated me like scum.
Now that I think of it, they were probably suspicious of a Marine Lance Criminal driving a Mercedes with an Army Officer registration decal on it. Better yet, the Last names didn't match. My bad.
I frequent the Air National Guard base here in Maine and R-A-C are there at the gate a well. In fact, I was in Rapid City, SD a few years ago and they had them at the Air Force Base there TOO!! Claimed that the Air Force was phasing out SP's all together because it was "cheaper"...
...Sooooooooo safety for our military installations is NOT a first priority; saving money is...so much for that war on terror.
"The Modern Patriotism, the True Patriotism, the only Rational Patriotism is Loyalty to the Nation all of the time, Loyalty to the Government when it deserves it."~Mark Twain
We have AF and Civ R-A-C's at the base in Minneapolis, but the thing is most of them are former Marines, they seem to mess with us less and the AF more, its kinda funny.
I think all services on Navy and Marine bases should be handled by that branch of the military. If I was deployed I would much rather be eating chow prepared by other Marines and being guarded by the same.... just my 2 centavos...

I hear ya on the overseas chow thing. then again..Hearing "Burger for a CopMP!" makes one wonder...

No kidding, the day I was getting ready to graduate Sgt's course "Desert Fox" had just started. I had to drive from Dana Point to Mainside Pendleton. Get to the main gate and get held up about 20 minutes for 100% ID card checks. So like a Dumbazz I proceed down Vandegrift (I think that was the name of the road) at about 80 mph. Of course I get pulled over. MP walks up "I'm Gunny so and so, this is LT. so an so. Do you know why I pulled you over?"
So I admitted I was wrong and he let me proceed to my graduation. He should have by all rights given me a ride to PMO in the back of his cruiser.
A good friend of mine is an MP, MSgt type...he said he'd only written 3 tickets his entire career.

I generally don't have a problem w/ those guys....especially the 2 retired Marines that work the gates here.
I had a SNCO MP follow me from the main gate to 22 area. I must have tired from driving back from TJ or something. He watched my back and then as I parked he turned on the lights and I thought I was done. He looked at me than the hot blondie in the passenger seat and said "your gonna have a good night" that was it. And I did. I also was detained my the MPs and turned over to my SNCO for reckless driving with 6 brig rats in a govie. I don't know how but all I recieved was a slap on the wrist.
During one of my tours in okinawa on the Marine corp birthday at the Enlisted club on Schwaab.
After a long night of festivities of course me and ten others staggered out the door and to our surprise there was an MP jeep staring at us at the end of the sidewalk.
And since our barracks seemed so God awful far away we all started laughing and I said I'll drive. they said ya right.
I hopped in and of course fired it up even though the cable was locked to the steering wheel.
The others all piled in and on this jeep and we proceeded to head towards the movie theatre.
Needless to say by the time we got to the stop sign at the end of the road the MPs had caught up to us yellin shut that mofo down blah blah and that was about the same time we started singing "show me the way to go home".
Well needless to say we got a free ride home that night and no one got into trouble.
MPs are people just like us and them were two good MPs that night, and like Gilley says It's usually the Gung Ho new guy trying to flex his new authority.
To me they were just Marines doing their job!
And the only reason we did not get into trouble was due to the cable was still on the wheel and all I could say was we knew You would catch up to us by the stop sign.

I have been hooked up a couple of times by MP's..some of them are good to go..
but it's those few bad apples that make me hate each and every one of them...like the bastard who got me with a DUI at the front gate even though i was not even remotely drunk and hadn't drank for the past 6 hours...
