CK...

Also ensure they have everything set up before they leave.

If they are married, that their wife has access to the funds they need. She knows what bills need to be paid.

if they are single, that they have all their bills taken care of and a plan to pay them

Check with your s-6 or your training NCO, they should have something they can give you with all the radio procedures on it.

you may also want to talk to your radio operators...most, if not all, carry little cheat sheets that can be used for radio prodecures...things like calling for supporting arms, wiether its arty, mortors, naval guns, etc..calling in a 9 line medivac..simle things like SatReps (situation Reports), SALUTE reports, etc...most of these things are copied in smaller print & attacthed to each other with one kind of clip or key ring, so that they can be flipped through quickly & all you have to do is read off what you need to say, filling in the blank space as it refers to your situation...another thing you may want to stress is Convoy Ops..what each Marine will do when the vehicle stops...what to do if the convoys stops do to IEDs, etc...again your unit should have all this info & I'm sure you will get alot of training on it, but you can never have too much training...you should also ensure that all your Marines do the Desert Ops MCI...

Right on carrer planner, I'm a wiredog but even I have a cheat sheet. I suggest that you all do the same, you never know when you will have to pick up the hand set.
