I finally got tired of looking at the tiny numbers on my cell phone to see what time it is. Eyes ain't what they used to be, for closeup. Wink

So I sprung for a new watch. It's amazing how much lighter titanium is than stainless. Not sure which is the "big hand" and which is the "little hand". Big Grin Never had a watch with 9 hands before. Wink

So what's everyone else wearing?

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be just a brawl.

I am very hard on watches. When I was in the Corps, my wife bought me a new Timex Triathlon every Christmas. Now I have a digital "Coleman" you know the camping gear people, that I got at Bass Pro Shops. Have had it for a couple of years now.

One of the fun parts of my real world job, survey crew chief, is chopping offensive vegetation with a machete. For best effect I prefer a two-handed grip that has launched a bunch of watches into the tulies, never to be seen again. I just open up my cell phone, the numbers are bigger inside. Cool

I found a few watches in the field, of course they were cheap and beat up. Funny thing is, wind up watches, they stopped and battery watches drained down fast. My electric aura was in full effect when I was younger. Now, I have a few watches, no cell phone.

Maybe someday I'll live where there are wires for a real phone. I've been cell phoning ever since the farmers hereabout took down the fences and planted trees. Last year I was working where there wasn't any cell coverage and couldn't remember how to work a pay phone.
If I had a real phone I could dump the ******omatic mark 4. Big Grin

Actually, that's the exact reason I decided to buy a watch. I had been using my cell phone and that got very tiresome. But that required
  • removing my cell phone from the case
  • Turning it on (because I always keep the keypad locked and it doesn't show time till turned on)
  • Reading very tiny numbers in the lower right. This reqired putting on glasses
  • Then, locking my cell phone again
  • Replacing it in the case.
Entirely too long a process. Wink

This particular watch
  • Never needs winding
  • Never needs batteries
  • Never needs motion to wind
  • And requires just a small amount of any light source to stay charged.
  • Will work for 6 months, when charged, even in total dark
So, if I'm using a one-hand or two-handed grip and launch it into the tulies and then go back 6 months later and find it, it will still be running and displaying correct time.... even if launched into 200m of water. Wink

I just keep the phone in my pants pocket, having learned about shirt pockets by drowning several. No case, unlocked.
Watch does sound cool with solar charging, I have a drawer full of dead batteried watches and ancient self-winders of historical value.
Then again, anymore I mostly don't care what time it is anyhow. Big Grin
