After reading all of the other posts, I see that having the national registry is going to allow me to skip the EMT portion of 68W. As a nationally registered paramedic, will that open up any other positions for me? I ultimately want to get into a flight medic position. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
I've read you really have to prove yourself in the army before you can get a flight medic spot. Being a prior aviation guy I had contact with those medics and they were one of two things...crazy as all get out or hardcore. either way they were the sharpest guys I had ever met...even the crazy ones.
I am a Paramedic as well and there is no other open door I seen on my side. It does allow you to take the F6 course sooner, If you get into a good unit that is all about schools, get them to send you to F6 course ASAP.
As for 'skipping' the EMT portion. Yes and No. FSH has to really be on their game with paperwork when you inprocess. If not, You may only get advanced one company ahead of you, and they will still be waiting to take their NREMT. You will sit for several weeks doing nothing or sitting in the class doing nothing waiting on them. And you may yet still be bored in some parts of the whiskey portion, but STX and FTX is where it's at.
