So I reported to Hood today with orders the the 1st Medical Brigade (I was assuming I was going to the 21st CSH).
So a 1SG @ reception weeded a few of us out of the formation by MOS. He said we were being "diverted" to the III Corps Headquarters Support Company to deploy in Feb. as members of the PSD (Personal Security Detachment) for the several Generals that would be there. He then said we would have new orders by the end of the week. What exactly does this mean for me, a 68WM6? A timely response is heavily appreciated, should I try to get out of this... Would I just be a straight Whiskey? Me, a member of a Personal Security Detachment? I have no line medical experience, why would I "guard" a General? Thanks in advance! Edited to add. I'm super excited to deploy, the 21st CSH deploys in January, I'd much rather deploy to do my actual MOS. |

Congrats, you have been 'promotedp to nurse maid to the general staff.
Don't sweat it....good will come out of this. You will want whatever awards or letters you will wind up with at the end of the deplyment. Remember if the army wants you to do stupid...they are still paying you do do it. Take advantage of any time off you may have...do ACCP, update you training that the 68 series demands...ect...
