Hi All:
My son is a Combat Medic and has just about 5 weeks left at AIT. His birthday was June 2nd and he got his orders for a birthday present. He got Camp Casey, Korea! Yeah. I am so glad. Yes I know, you guys all want the action of Iraq but for me Korea is great. He will learn while not being in harms way as much as over there. He leaves in Sept. I will miss him but with todays technology life is a little easier for the ones left behind.

Thats cool, I'd like to try Korea myself, but what makes you think he'll learn just as much as being in Iraq?
There are experiances/skills you just can't get anywhere else, both good and bad.

I have to agree with fishercat, since I've been in Afghanistan, I've learned more skiils than I ever would stateside.

Also, when I earned my CMB my third time outside the wire, I learned a lot about myself as well.

To the OP, tell your son...Welcome to the best MOS in the Army!!!

Hi Guys: thanks for your responses but you misunderstood. I didn't mean that he would learn as much as being in Iraq, I meant he would learn more than being stateside but would not be in harms way as bad. Gotta remember I'm his Mom, don't want my baby hurt. lol Smile

I am trying to figure out when graduation is for 68W Delta,08-08 FSH. My son will be graduating and we want to fly down from CA. The website has some 68W's listed but not 08. Anyone with more information? He is suppose to report to Camp Casey in Sept.

Hello there, I was at Camp Casey twice...95 to 96 and 04 to 05. In between I went to Iraq. Iraq is Iraq, but Korea is honestly pretty much the same as being in the states...just further from home. Just pray that helearns to be responsible with spending habits over there because it is very easy to get caught up with bad spending habits...males and females...I wish him the best!!

I spent a lot of time at Camp Casey. I was down the road at Hovey from 95-96. Korea can be a good tour. Good training and plenty of things to see.

I understand that they can deploy from everywhere and they touch everyone. I was not saying anything other than my son is in a relatively safe zone for now. You should be happy for us instead of yelling at me. You do know that writing in all caps is considered yelling?

Sir, again I know your very proud. I just returned from 15 month deployment in Iraq. My son will be heading over to the sandbox next year. I, as a father, do appreciate the concern you have for your son's safety.

God Bless Our Troops.
