Unless I have the MOS incorrect...back in the day our tank mechanics were 2141 so I am guessing that today it is 2146 same = same.
I am curious as to why you'd want to move out of a field that you could parlay into a nice civilian job when you get off of AD? I can't imagine that being a tracked vehicle mechanic (21XX) would be better paying than a job in aviation.
I have a good buddy and fellow Vietnam tank crewman who after his first enlistment shipped over for air frame welding. After 30 years he retired as a MGySgt and now works for Hughes Aircraft at double his military salary.
I got off active duty last June and hardly anyone was hiring, especially without an A&P liscence. I am attached to a reserve unit but they are moving to NJ in a couple of years. Just curious on other mos' that I could find myself in.
the tank mech mos is 2146 now its not to bad but man if you come from the wing it will be culture shock we had a guy show up like you got out and came back in he was from the wing he hated being a tank mech we go to the feild sometimes for a month straight which i can be fun with the right bunch of guy s bu**** all in what you make it
After being in the wing and looking for a job in that field when I left (that didn't require me to work for my old supervisor) I found nothing. I went back to school to get a commission and am considering a tank crew job. I've gotten along great with everyone I know who has done it and lets admit, those things are sweet.

I wish I knew the name of the current company but if you called one of the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Air Branches, ex: Miami Airbranch located at the Homestead AFB, they have a private company that services their UH-60A's along with other types of aircraft.
Just an idea for you.
My son is a USMC Amphibiouis Assault Vehicle Mech, Corporal, and he enjoys his job.
