Folks,

It seems that the Chinese military thinks that the Marines are right in the need for a high speed planning AAV for over the horizon amphibious assault operations. See these two photos just released. The photos show the tank version, but there is also an infantry combat vehicle version.

Probably cardboard; we could take it out with a sharp stick most likely.

Dear Member,

Have no idea. But just by the shear number of different weapons the Chinese have introduce in the last five years, I wonder how many would actually work if push comes to shove. Remember before the Gulf War all the media defense experts were talking about how Iraq had built up a huge defense industry. Turned out that the Iraqi defense industry designed and manufactured the rounds for for the 125mm main gun on the T-72 tanks they had. And during the 1991 War the Iraqi gunners found out that even at close range and from the rear they could not knock out an Abrams with those Iraqi made APDS-FS rounds! As an old Arab beudion (sp?) saying goes "Having a sword and knowing how to use it are not the same."

Finally, under Mao, the Chinese wanted to be self sufficient from outside sources. A Swedish defense attache was allowed to visit Chinese airbases in the early 1980s. He discovered that the Chinese had their own machine shops at each airbase to make parts for their Mig-19 fighters as needed. And here is the crazy thing. If a Mig-19 from one airbase landed at another Mig-19 airbase and needed repair the parts made at that airbase would would not fit on a Mig-19 from any airbase other than their own!!!!

I doubt that thing would survive in the surf zone......especially 10 foot plunging surf...like the AAV is rated....

During WW2, the outstanding t34 suffered literally dozens of losses for the loss of ever german tank, and those german tanks ended up getting whipped by our men in much inferior equipment. Its the men that count.
It doesnt matter if the chinese AAV works, or even if its superior, they dont have guys like you.
On top of that, all of this is new to them, they have no experience with any kind of these operations or equipment.

The Chinese soldiers hitching a ride on this contraption probably would get lead poisoning, since almost all their products have it haha Big Grin
