well john a avlb is by defintion a armored vehicle launched bridge but it was a m60 chassis with the turret removed and a commanders and driver cuppoula mounted in place of the turret and a a hydrualic system that enplaces a bridge deck capable of spanning a 60 foot gap i was just wondering if many other people had used them in other conflicts because i had to use the one we had while i was in iraq

I never saw one in person. If they were in the USMC arsnel back then they did not have them in our TAOR in Vietnam. We certainly could have used one on occassion

FYI: The M-60 had the same "chassis" as the M-48 so I assume that the hull of the AVLB is a variant of the Patton tank.

Them thing's were front end heavy. Needed a real good driver, or you was in for a long painfilled day. A very rough ride.
