Im stationed at Ft Knox and I see the USMC trainees everyday. My question is why do they wear the desert uniform as opposed to the woodland uniform? I could see if they switched between desert and woodland to break them in, but I never see the woodland uniforms being worn.

Back in 86' we got called a Soldier a quit alot around Ft. Knox. We young Marine's did not like that very much.

Maybe they just did not want to look like a Soldier. Cool Camo is a wonderful thing, but maybe it is because of the area of operations we are in at this time in the world.

I was at Knox for Mike Gulf school during the summer of 2007 and they had us wear both sets of cammies depending on the time of the month. I dont remember exactly how it worked but basically like the first week of the month was desert and the rest was in woodland. That may have changed now.

We now wear the desert digitals w/ sleeves up during the spring and summer and the woodland digitals w/ sleeves down in the fall and winter. When we had the old cammies, we had like 4 sets of them. Now we are required to have two of each style. I think this is just so that we actually use both varieties, even when we are not deployed or at 29 Palms. You should see a change in the upcoming weeks.
