In reading the Marriott web site this week I discovered that they are no longer offering Government and Military rates for Off Duty and retired travel. I have contacted them to confirm.

As a 100% SC, I have chosen Marriott in the past for the great rates they offered retired military.

There reply to my inquiry.

Thank you for contacting Marriott. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with information.

We honor and respect the service of military veterans. As you may be aware, a limited number of rooms are offered at the discounted government rate. The decision to offer a room rate discount to current members of the military was made to ensure such business travelers have the opportunity to meet their per diem requirements.

DaveM, if you go to your local library you can probably obtain the contact info of Mr Marriott. I believe the name of the publication is the book of lists put out but the Business Journal company. Lists contact info for Business Executives in the U.S.

Go right to the top on this one before giving up, don't waste your time with the low-level peons. Thats my suggestion as a former Business Consultant....who also spent a little time in the Hotel Industry.

Don't let someones position in society intimidate either, for the most part Business Executives like to hear from the public and they respect someone that is direct and to the point with them (be polite though).
