Hello. My name is Kate; I am currently 16 years old and dependant of my dad who is in the Army and switching back to the Navy soon. After 10 years of service, he spent most of it in the Navy.
So I would like to move to Heidelburg, Germany (I think) after I turn 18. My oarents would feel better if I did it through the military. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the military base(s) there, if they are there; or if you could tell me a good place that I could stay under military supervision for a discount price. Please please please. Finding this out means whether I can go through with this dream or not. ^^ With respect, Kate |

Unless he is on deployment for over 120 days you can not use military aircraft (Space A) to fly to Germany and that is at this time, in 2 years it might be totally different and not allowed at all unless the AD member is with you.
The military will not supervise you that is up to you and your family to arrange yourselves. You can be limited to what you can do on base if he is not stationed there as well. You can stay at base lodging if they have it available but you will have to contact them to find out what the rules and regulations are. |

And you will be 18 and not a dependent unless in school. At that point unless you join the military or are in college, you will not have base access. You will be an adult. Your parents might have financial strings they have pull, but they will not have legal rights to prevent you from doing what you want.

Actually not true, you are a dependent until 21 unless you are in full time college in which it is 23 or you are married. She will still have the dependent ID card and base access along with medical. |

also> SOFA woudl not apply as you are not command sponsored which means you are subject to Geramny's tourism laws ..
the militray would be a non factor here.. you would have no access tomost of the base facilities, limited access to therest and as for staying on base.. not going to happen unless there is someone who is assigned there willing to take responsibility for you and escort you. and no flying AMC unless your sponsor flies with you or he is deployed for a certain number of days. |
