hey everyone just wondering how likely it is to be a reserve CTI and get picked up as an active after I put in a package
I saw your post hasn't gotten any responses, so I thought I'd share what I know about CTI.
I was also interested in this rate when I was first considering joining the reserves. However, my recruiter was quick to inform me that CTI is usually not available for reservists right out of the gate. Although it is incredibly high in demand for active duty members, the vast majority of CTIs that ARE in the reserves have already been active duty for some time.
Personally, I'm joining the reserves as an rp until I finish my bachelor's degree, then I plan on going active and cross rating into CTI. Since CTI is currently in such high demand, it is much easier to cross rate into than most other rates.

because the Navy is looking for a return on investment. Putting all that time and MONEY into training someone and then making them a reservist doesnt benefit the Navy for ratings like CTI.
more goes into your cross rate package than need for the rating (though that is a big part). your current paygrade, reccomendation...it's possible, but hardly a given. and who knows what the situation will be regarding need when you're ready to head that way.
moving to joining
PS OP-unless something has drastically changed since the last time I looked (which is very recently) CTI is not open to initial entry reservists.
