Im not a citizen. I grew up in America tho and I have a green card. I also just graduated from a 4 yr college. I am considering joining, even tho i cant join as an officer. how soon will i get my citizenship if i join? and after i get it, can i apply for an officer right after?
I am currently serving active duty in the navy. I am also a permanent resident and have started my paperwork for naturalization. No one can tell you a time frame. If you went through the green card process you must know that it takes time or if you are lucky it could take very little. What I do know, is that getting your paperwork in fast is up to you. I did mine as soon as I got to A school, however, there were many errors and I must say I did not keep track and just assumed the LNs did it all correct. So my advice to you is. 1)It is possible to submit your application for naturalization on the basis of active service. 2)make sure you fill out your application completely, you can seek help for your legal person or from another source such as Fleet and Family Support Center or even MilitaryOnesource. 3)After you submit your application be patient. Also, I dont know your plans but once you get your citizenship apply for officer, who knows they might need you. I hope all of this helped.
