Good envening all,

i have been recently thinking about enlisting in the navy in this past few days but need some answers to some questions if anyone can assist me, i will appreciate it ... i am a college grad with dual degree in MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND MATHEMATICS - 3.5 Overall GPA (Mai, 2004) ... i am a US Permanent resident ... my questions are as follow ...

1 - Is the OCS route an option since a Green Card holder?

2 - How much do i need to score in my ASVAB to qualify for IS, IT ...

3 - If enlisted in case OCS is not an option what will be the highest rank can i except and what is the promotion procesures to a higher rank?

4 - If end up shosing IT or IS as career choice, how long the "A" School will take and what to expect in either one of the above program?

5 - How one can transfer a civilian leadership experience into the Navy and be successful?

6 - How much bonus can i expect as a college grad as i enlist in case OCS is not and option?

7 - I am into the first year into my Master Degree in Information Security ... how long do i have to put this on the side and continue later ... can the navy help me pay of it?

8 - How fast is the switch from being an elistee to an officer if i become a US citizen?

9 - Any advise will be really appreciate and thank you for any feedback ... i am looking forward to reading all the comments ...

Again thanks in advance for your comments ...

Your questions kind of overwhelm what can be abswered in a simple message room. Take them one at a time and use the find feature and you probably could find most of the answers as I believe they all have been asked before.
Some of what you ask cannot be answered except in generalities such as

quote:
3 - If enlisted in case OCS is not an option what will be the highest rank can i except and what is the promotion procesures to a higher rank?
5 - How one can transfer a civilian leadership experience into the Navy and be successful?
7 - I am into the first year into my Master Degree in Information Security ... how long do i have to put this on the side and continue later ... can the navy help me pay of it?

This one there is no hard fast answer for

quote:
8 - How fast is the switch from being an elistee to an officer if i become a US citizen?

USS Liberty, Never Forget.

I believe in Murrays Law, he thought Murphy was an optimist.

3 - If enlisted in case OCS is not an option what will be the highest rank can i except and what is the promotion procesures to a higher rank? with a Degree: E3. promotions depend on rating and your efforts.

4 - If end up shosing IT or IS as career choice, how long the "A" School will take and what to expect in either one of the above program? again, not an option for you at this point.

5 - How one can transfer a civilian leadership experience into the Navy and be successful? that's up to you.

6 - How much bonus can i expect as a college grad as i enlist in case OCS is not and option? Bonuses vary by rating and a bunch of other factors. Not all ratings come with a bonus and they don't always offer bonuses for college either. Only the Classifier can tell what, if any , you qualify for.

7 - I am into the first year into my Master Degree in Information Security ... how long do i have to put this on the side and continue later ... can the navy help me pay of it? Navy takes precedence and you would not be permitted while in Boot and school. Then OPTEMPO decides for you. Using Tuition Assistance can help pay for it.

8 - How fast is the switch from being an elistee to an officer if i become a US citizen? after one year in uniform you can fast track citizenship. Once you become a citizen you must then apply to OCS. this is NEVER a guarantee, although your credentials seem to indicate you are a good candidate overall. it took DH 4 years to get accepted to OCS and he was a citizen when he enlisted.

fastest track( and cheapest) is to enlist and after the year go for citizenship.. for military personnel the fees are waived and you don't have to wait however many years after getting said Green Card( up to ten, i think?) before you can become a citizen.

be the best possible squid you can be that first year or two and you will have a leg up on somebody else trying to get a slot in OCS.

If you have been a Permanent Alien Resident (aka Green Card) for 5 years (including 2 as Conditional) then you can apply for Citizenship. Right now it costs about $800 I believe to do the necessary testing and paperwork. Here is a link to becoming one if that helps.

Any previous schooling debt is your responsibility, Tuition Assistance and GI Bill will not pay it off.
