I'm a 20 year old guy with an interest in computers and technology.

I know when it comes to enlisting, there are no 100% guarantees, so I may or may not get IT. I don't want to repost, but I asked about IT job availability in another post called "IT manning levels." If IT isn't available,

Does anyone have any "allowed" links for different IT sections (I never came across INFOSEC or ONI in my research so now I'm curious).

As for being an officer, there doesn't seem to be any field that fits my interest, or did I interpret something wrong? Any suggestions on which route I should take and what kind of bachelors' degrees that would go with it?

If I understood correctly, non-warfare officers spend more time on land than at sea. To me being at sea would feel more exciting, but I know nothing. What do you guys prefer?

This belongs here

https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/ pay attention to the tier system for degrees. It's where the whole Navy is moving to for any Officer route, no matter what the designator.

Thanks catherine!

I have a new question, but I didn't know whether to start a new thread or not.

Alright so the ASVAB score for IT looks like this:

AR + 2MK + GS = 222 OR AR + MK + EI + GS = 222

I know what "MK" is, but what is "2MK?"

So even if I do score high enough, I'm still at about 50/50 for getting the job? And the best time to go through MEPS is February? Or should I just wait a whole year until October?

Also, is the full ASVAB practice test given here a good representation of the real ASVAB?

How are availability spots for CTM and CTN? I mean I know Nukes and SO's are the ones open right now, let's say jobs open up. Are CTM, CTN, and IT very competitive to get in?

And say I don't get it. Should I sit tight and wait or should I take what's there and then transfer later?

I feel like I'm asking too many questions, but I just want to be prepared. I'd rather go to a recruiter with a plan than have him/her make one for me.
