What pay grade would i be able to enter with if i am an eagle scout?
Do navy ships mostly travel around the world or do they sometimes just sit in the waters by the middle east?

Sic Vis Pacem Parabellum. If you want peace, prepare for war.

As a fellow Eagle Scout, I can tell you that you would be able to come in as an E-2. Make sure to tell your recruiters and give them all the proper documentation proving you are an Eagle Scout.

As for the ships....they do spend a lot of time in the ME but they also conduct operations elsewhere.

For ships it can depend on what kind you are on. Those stationed on the West coast do a Westpac going to Asia, Australia, and up to the Gulf if it is part of the deployment. They can also go down to South America or up the coast to Canada. For those on the East Coast they do a Med Run going to Europe and the Med, plus down to South America, and other places. it is going to really depend on what is needed at the time. They only time these days round the world trips are done is when they are could be doing a homeport change. For example the Carl Vinson did one a couple of years ago to go from Washington to Virginia.

Kind of seems that way sometimes, but no, they are all over the world. It depends on where they are needed and what is happening on where they go.

One of the big problems on the high seas right now is Piracy, but it doesn't get a lot of press. Quite a few Navy ships are involved in running the pirates down and keeping sea lanes open for commercial traffic. And its not just the US Navy thats involved but a whole selection of countries.

I think you might do yourself some good if you pick up a newspaper or magazine or two that reports on world issues. It will open your eyes to a lot bigger world than you focused on here.

USS Liberty, Never Forget.

I believe in Murrays Law, he thought Murphy was an optimist.
