Just wondering if you have a heads up for those of us going in on the ratings available that dont have too long of a wait?
Thanks |

just got back from MEPS myself. Apparently I'm 100% qualified for the Navy, but there are curretnly no ratings available.
I was told that within the next week we should see some stuff coming in. |

i just got back from MEPS today. and there were plenty of jobs available... i turned down the first job they wanted to assign me to (submarine electronics tech), and took a job as an HM. but there were definitely plenty of jobs available i assume you just had lower ASVAB scores which means you didn't qualify for them.

AndrewMcGee, thanks for sharing that. Can you remember any other jobs that were available, so maybe this Sunday when I head down there, I'll have an idea ?

really just going to depend on what your asvab scores are as to what you'll qualify for. and come sat. there should be even more jobs available due to it being a new month.

Bad info. Jobs for April 2010 haven't even been loaded yet and no one knows when they will. So to say that more jobs will be loaded on Saturday is false. Also, there are many other factors besides ASVAB score that determines job availability. Last week, I saw an applicant with a 97 AFQT who didn't get a job because he was color blind. |

i wasn't saying that jobs for april 2010 would be loaded. i was saying what my recruiter told me, which is more jobs are available at the start of the month as opposed to the end of the month. a few days from now will be the start of a new month, hence more jobs being made available. and yes there are many other qualifying factors to think about. such as being physically able to do the job, and being able to get the security clearance needed as well. |

Andrew, THis is not true. All "A" school seats are loaded as the month is opened by Navy Recruiting (i.e. once APril 2010 opens ALL "A" school seats will be loaded for that month, more seats will not be loaded any time later). What your recruiter is referring to is that at the end of the month most NRDs discharge anyone that may have had medical, legal, or changed their mind. This then opens school seats once the discharge is cycled through the computer system. If no one is discharged then no new openings. |

As far as asthma goes, they'll ask you about it and if you say no, you've never had it and it does flare up, you're not gonna look great. I had childhood asthma but haven't had any issues since age nine (I believe the cutoff on that is age 12 or 13). The doc asked me about the asthma and I just told him I had had no issues since nine, and everything was fine. If you've had issues past those ages, I would seriously consider the fact that you could be enlisting under false pretenses which isn't taken very lightly.
