That's unfortunate. I do think it is a break, however I am anxious to start Power School. |

Change 2 is dated 29MAY09. I am not talking just for Nuke. If you are going to make this information readily available, it needs to be the latest and greatest. Also, I didn't look at the site you linked to but one piece of info that needs to be reinforced to people who want to join the Navy right now is that they need to be happy with joining the Navy. There are people all over the country right now who are completely qualified for enlistment but cannot join because there are no jobs available to them for an entire year. |

Stec, I just went and looked at ~NavyFamilies.com, that link actually points to the Offical Navy website link at http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/publications/1130.8H.htm. Had I noticed I would have just posted the direct link (dang hyperlinks). Sorry about the wrong date, Change 2 is actually the date you said. Being the offical site, it better be! This is the Offical Navy website showing the correct data correct? or do you have a better link? I agree the Recruiting Manual contains lots more info on all the ratings, but this guy was talking about Nukes, and I quoted him for Nukes. I totally agree with you about not being "Job-Locked". These kids have to realize that they might not get the ratings they want. Getting into the Navy is hard now. They need to figure out what they qualify for. Besides scores they have to look at the complete picture. For example for this Nuke guy, do you think he realises that he would need an eligibility waiver for having a fireworks violation and smoked when he was 14? He would... (1) Applicants who admit to having been arrested for, charged with, or convicted of any offense whatsoever, regardless of the final disposition, may not enlist in the Nuclear Field Program without a eligibility waiver. The only exceptions to this rule are applicants who admit to, have been charged with, or have been convicted of five or less minor traffic offenses over the past two years may enlist without a character eligibility waiver and, applicants who admit to, have been charged with, or have been convicted of one of the following misdemeanors, may enlist in the Nuclear Field Program without a character program eligibility waiver (a BEERs waiver may still be required): (a) Disorderly conduct. (b) Drunk in public; drunk and disorderly. (c) Purchase, possession, or use of tobacco products by minors. (d) Open container of alcoholic beverage. (e) Purchase, possession, or consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. (f) Malicious mischief prior to age 16. (g) Petty larceny prior to age 16 (value less than $100), to include shoplifting. (h) Vandalism. (i) Violation of fireworks laws. (j) Violation of fish and game laws. (k) Curfew violations. Again, what these kids need to understand is there is alot more things to worry about besides the test score.... |
