Silly Boy, I forgot IS rate. My point is always plan your career. Choose a rate and skill set that you can use on the outside too. Take advantage of classes. CLEP, AP and Dantes test are free. If you fail then you can retake at 6 months. If right out of high school or college, take the tests. Chances are you will get some credit. Most colleges will take a full year or 30 credits of CLEP, AP or Dantes. Have a plan for making Chief or Officer and accomplish that. Sit down with a mustang or a younger Chief and map out your gameplan. Another thing, if you get out, maintain your ties by staying in the reserves. Yes you will probably get a recall if in certain rates, skill set or clearance.

97--I'll be an RPSN, but after all this I have no idea what my rate or rating is! Smile I'm not sworn in yet, though, waiting for final approval from RP folks.

Does this mean (once I swear in) that I'm designated an RP? B/c I thought my recruiter said that I'm not striking for it, b/c it's already for sure. I'm joining Navy Reserves via APG. But I don't know if E-3's can be rated??

Yes but you didn't start out as a GM2 I'm guessing. So how did his recruiter screw him?

If you go AB then you are not as bright as you think. AC (Aircrew) right, I hope you're a strong swimmer. AE and AT are good, just make sure the advancement is strong if you want to make it past E4
