I thought that for females it was 33% my recruiter just informed me that it's 36%. I know I'm not under 33% and I'm 15 lbs over the weight limit but I think my recruiter is just saying 36 because she wants me to go up to MEPS. I don't want to go to MEPS and waste all that time to just get DQ'd for weight.
Honesty, Its more of a waste of your recruiters time to take you to MEPS before you are ready. If you are found to be out of body fat percentage, they make you wait X amount of time before you can go back. I dont recall the Female Body Fat percentage off hand, but I do know its a couple percentage points higher than what is allowed by the time you finish bootcamp.
I was just at MEPS for the second time because I had to drop soem weight to qualify, but I saw a few guys, including myself, who were able to get in at 24% even though once in you have to maintain 22%. So there is a little bit of flex in there but i DO know that you have sit down with some folks who grill you on why they should let you in being over the max allowable body fat. So that's probably what your recruiter is saying.

The bodyfat percentage is 36% percent to DEP in and ship to RTC.
Your recruiter has the latest and most correct info, not websites like about.com or any "sea lawyers" or ex-navy people who served thirty years ago.
If you can not or will not trust her you may want to rethink your decision of enlisting in the Navy.
Well considering she's told me false information in the past why wouldn't I question her again? I have no issues about joining the Navy I just don't have need for false information when most of it you can find out on the internet. Thanks for the information and confirmation of what she told me.
However, where the recruiter may have some of the aforementioned "flex" is by, perhaps, allowing up to the DOD maximum of 36% for recruits (similar to the "flex" that a CO has for high PT scorers).

Could be referring to the current instruction that states: "BODY COMPOSITION ASSESSMENT (BCA) PILOT PROGRAM
Applicants required to attend recruit training but who exceed Navy physical readiness standards may ship to RTC provided their body fat content does not exceed 25% for males and 36% for females."
